Two weeks ago my team & I moved from the Adventures base to live with our ministry host in the sweet city of Sumpango. As November 5th approached I was less than excited about the change & felt half-hearted towards ministry and disengaged from my team. Now with only 3 days left here I reflect on how the Lord has used this time to help me grow. Since being here I’ve felt nothing but an overflow of joy and love for our ministry host, for this city & the village of Santa Marta & for all the people I encounter daily. Man if I could only find the words to express my gratitude to the Lord on where He has placed me. Time and time again on the Race I’ve been disappointed about situations & then watched them turn into something more incredible and beautiful than I could’ve ever imagined.
Our ministry, Reindom, genuinely has my heart. Over the past month they’ve called me higher just in how they carry themselves. They walk so gracefully in who God calls us to be in Romans 12: 9-21. They love deeply and are compassionate beyond measure. They’re my age or just a little older and living completely by faith, trusting that the Lord will provide as they work for the good of the Kingdom day in and day out. I’ve found myself striving to be more like them, someone who exemplifies Christ in all they do. The work they’re doing is changing lives & they’ll be here continuing it even after my team is long gone. They spend Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in the village of Santa Marta feeding the kids there, teaching them, doing bible lessons, and playing soccer. On Wednesdays they stay in Sumpango and feed the people of the community & spend time praying for them and worshiping with them. They work endlessly and without tire and still have time to pour into each other & their own personal callings. My team loves them so dearly & I’m already heartbroken to leave them. I’ll forever appreciate the way I’ve grown by watching who they are in the Lord, how they pursue Him & put Him first in all things.
With all this being said, in order to keep doing all the good they do they need more donations! For their housing, for supplies and food, for transportation, and to continue their work with the kids if Santa Marta. I’ll never stop being grateful for how I was supported when fundraising to come on the Race & now that I’m fully funded I’d love to support the people that have shown me so much about making ministry my whole life. If you’re interested in joining me in donating or in just learning more about what Reindom is doing here in Guatemala please reach out to me!
All my love and gratitude,
Grace!
